The Whitsunday Islands. The breath-taking Whitsundays is
comprised of sun-drenched islands and beaches, and crystal blue seas
fringing on the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef. The
Whitsunday Islands provide tourists with thousands upon thousands of
species of fish and marine life living in their natural habitat.
Most of the 74 islands
are uninhabited, however a few have island resorts located in their
midst; Hamilton, Daydream, Lindeman, Hayman, Great Keppel, Long, Orpheus
and Dunk Islands make up these inhabited wonderlands. Whitsunday Island
is the largest of the group with camping areas but no resort facilities
are located on this island.
Just one and half
hours north of Brisbane by plane, the surrounding mainland of the
Whitsunday Islands includes Bowen, Airlie Beach, Proserpine and Shute
Harbour. Average temperatures in and around the Whitsundays are
approximately 27.5oC maximum and 20oC minimum.
Entry into the Whitsunday Islands is quite simple; boat, plane, train
and for those people driving to the famous location, beautiful scenery
and modern roads create a wonderful trip. There are storage
facilities situated at Airlie Beach for your car. |

some of the visible enchantments contained within the Great Barrier
Reef. So whatever you are looking for in a holiday, you are sure
to find it on the Barrier Reef !

sports; there is just so much to do that one must experience at least
some, if not all of it. For those more reserved personalities, resort
activities and eco tours are also available. With so much to do and see
it's no wonder that it is one of the most popular tourist destinations
